DEAD PEASANTS INSURANCE 'R US

Companies buy life insurance on their employees without their knowledge. When employee dies, the company gets the tax-free payoff. They often use this money for corporate bonuses. When employees leave the company, the policy stays in effect until he/.she dies.

‘Dead Peasant’ unethical

~

Some employees are worth more to their companies dead.

The “Dead Peasant” life insurance policies allow corporations to benefit from the death of workers.

If you work for one of the many companies that take out Dead Peasant life insurance policies on their employees, this scenario could play out right under your nose.

In downtown Columbia at least three companies have taken out these Dead Peasant policies: Bank of America, AT&T and Wachovia.

What they usually put that money toward is sickening: bonuses for their CEOs and highest ranking employees.

I cannot believe our government has allowed this policy to continue, especially after pumping billions of dollars into the financial sector of our country to save some of these very same companies from going bankrupt.
